A Great Pagoda of Funn

Morph the Cat

At a recent power dinner with DrJ (aka The Original Dan Fan), I gingerly mentioned this album fully expecting an hour long analysis of the music, details of the latest Steely Dan tour, plans of a US trip to relive his days as roadie for his musical Messiah and possibly a couple of bad dildo jokes. Imagine my shock when he replied with a look that said "Donald Fag-who ?"

So for those of you who are too unjobless (read too married) to stay up-to-date here's the latest (... released about 5 months back) album from a guy who is almost incapable of writing a bad song. Mary shut the garden door is the first A-list song I've heard from the man since Almost Gothic -- IMO of course.

Ooh! This is doubtlessly DrJ after a wash, spin, rinse and dry.
Are the tracks online? Can't wait. I went on an SD trip today and before I posted yet another wonderful nugget about them before I read this.

More on the same album with lots of quotes from the Don himself. What is not to love about lilting phrases like "bogus oriental"?

Agreed. "Great Pagoda of funn" seemed a pretty lame song-title... "bogus oriental" really puts it in perspective.
